"Know, my dear reader, that what matters most is taking care of one's heart and acting swiftly to put it right and rid it of all illnesses and flaws. This is so because the heart is highly regarded in Islam as the repository of honesty, tawheed, and faith as well as the center of attention for the Lord. Actions are distinguished from each other according to the quality of their deeds in Allah's eyes, based on the condition of the heart. This is decided by the caller's strength, sincerity, and level of self-preference over Allah, not by the number or kind of activities.Since the heart is the master organ of the body, it has been singled out for this.Al-Haafidh ibn Hajr al-Asqalaanee claims that the subjects become cleansed and corrupted by the leader's cleansing and corruption. Thus, O servant of Allah, in order to treat your heart, you must be sincere about turning to Allah and finding refuge in Him, recite a lot of intercession prayers, and consistently perform acts of obedience to Him. You must also frequently recite the Qur'an, pray the night prayer while people are sleeping, and treat your heart by keeping it permanently attached to memories and only forming friendships with the righteous. And Allah will undoubtedly permit him to keep up this whole thing."
